DAVID Cameron received a mixed reception when he visited college students and young apprentices today (March 15).

The Conservative leader met job seekers on short employability courses and young apprentices on plumbing, plastering and sports courses at Lewisham College in Deptford.

Mr Cameron spoke to the students and apprentices about their experiences and hopes for the future.

The MP was booed as he took part in a question and answer session, which was attended by around 100 people.

Sports apprentice Jack Parker said: “I think he is very energetic and flowing with confidence. I liked his answers for housing. He knows his stuff.”

The 18-year-old added: “He’s the first MP I’ve seen. He’s quite down-to-earth and not snobby. It made me consider voting.”

Jamie Bale, aged 19, said: “When we went in to the main meeting area he was booed. It did get a bit fiery in some parts.

“Someone asked how it will affect us if he becomes prime minister. He just said once he’s elected he’s not going to waste people’s votes.”

The personal training student added: “Anyone can talk the talk but I don’t know if he will pull through. He wants to bring in more apprenticeships which I think is really good.”

Mr Cameron also answered questions about bringing the country out of recession, Education Maintenance Allowance and housing.
