BRITAIN'S first female hardcore porn director has set her sights on seducing Gravesham’s voters into electing her MP.

Anna Arrowsmith has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the borough at the upcoming general election.

The 38-year-old is the boss of adult film company Easy on the Eye and has made around 300 movies under the pseudonym Anna Span during a 12-year career, winning a number of awards.

She says she has always been a “fighter for equality” and entered porn to make films aimed at women to include them in a male dominated industry and make female sexuality less taboo.

She said: “I went into a very male dominated industry and had enormous success in changing it.

“For example, in the last three years the number of adult shops in the UK aimed at women has risen from five to 30 per cent.

“So I have a proven track record of setting goals and achieving them, and I will do that for the people of Gravesham.”

Although she now lives in Tunbridge Wells with her husband and grew up in Bromley, Mrs Arrowsmith has strong ties to Gravesham, as her grandparents and father lived there.

She said: “Half my family are from this area and I’ve spent a lot of time here, so I know the area well and the issues of local people.”

If elected she plans to oppose the Gravesham Council backed regeneration plans for the Heritage Quarter in Gravesend town centre.

Mrs Arrowsmith, who has an MA in philosophy, said: “If you allow big developments to go up that don’t have a certain aesthethic quality, it sends out a bad message.

“It sends out the message you don’t care about the area, and the danger is the people that live there stop caring too and as a result vandalism and crime increases.”

Mrs Arrowsmith says she is passionate about increasing the number of youth clubs in the area, “to give young people something to do so they don’t turn to crime”.

She said: “The Liberal Democrats believe every council should have a legal responsibility to provide youth clubs for young people.

“This is just one of many issues I hope to be able to deal with. What voters will get with me is someone who fights passionately for what they believe in.”
