RESTORATION and renovation work on a library will start next month.
Gravesend’s Carnegie Library is to get a £2.5m makeover promising new computers and improved access to all areas of the building.
The library in Windmill Street, which will close on March 27, will also have new books, a dedicated community space, local studies area and a courtyard reading garden.
During the 14-month redevelopment, the library will be open at a temporary location in the town centre’s St Georges shopping centre from April 19.
The district manager of Gravesham and Dartford libraries, Christoph Bull, said: “This is the most significant development for the library since it opened in 1905.
“The library service has been too big for the building.”
