NORTH KENT: County council pleased with pothole repairs

1:00pm Saturday 13th March 2010

ROAD repair crews are delighted at the rate they are fixing potholes across the county.

Last month Kent County Council’s highway services filled more than 20,500 potholes, compared with 8,400 for the same month last year.

This brings the total number of potholes repaired so far this year to 31,000.

But drivers are urged to take care when out on the roads, as there are still plenty more potholes waiting to be fixed following the country’s worst winter in years.

KCC’s cabinet member for environment, highways and waste Councillor Nick Chard said: “We are focusing all our efforts on repairing potholes, but while we are fixing the damage left by the snow and ice there are still a lot of potholes on the roads – and drivers need to be prepared for this and drive with extra care.”
