A WATCHDOG is investigating after a teenager fell through a shop window while police dealt with an incident in Bromley town centre.

Police were called to Bromley High Street at around 11.30pm on Saturday (February 27) after reports of a disturbance on a bus involving a large group of youngsters.

The Met’s Territorial Support Group (TSG) was called in to support local police.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) says that during the incident a TSG officer “came into contact” with a 16-year-old boy who then fell through the window of Magnet Kitchens.

He is understood to have escaped serious injury.

The boy was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and taken to Bromley police station where he was interviewed and bailed.

It was later confirmed no further action would be taken against him.

The circumstances around his arrest were brought to the attention of the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards after concerns were raised internally within the police force.

The matter was then referred to the IPCC, which has decided to launch a full investigation.

IPCC investigators are now examining CCTV, locating further possible footage and contacting possible witnesses.

CCTV shows several people near to where the incident took place and also shows a route 208 bus passing.

IPCC commissioner Mike Franklin said: “We are particularly keen to speak to the two young women who approached the TSG van, as well as anybody else who witnessed the contact between the TSG officer and the youth who fell through the window, either from the street or perhaps as they passed by on the 208 bus.”
