AN ELDERLY man was airlifted to hospital after he was struck by a car in Northfleet.

The 89-year-old pedestrian victim was involved in a collision with a black Ford Focus car in Perry Street at around 9.20am on Wednesday (Mar 3).

Police attended the scene and closed the road between All Saints Road and Coopers Road to allow paramedics to treat the injured man.

He was taken to a hospital in Essex where he continues to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured.

The road re-opened at around noon.
