A NEW building in Biggin Hill which will house a swimming pool and library is one step closer to completion after a topping out ceremony.
The £5m “community hub”, at the junction of Main Road and Church Road, has been under construction for a year and top councillors helped contractors roll a sedum roof onto the glass-fronted building last week.
As well as the 25-metre swimming pool and library, there will be a cafe, games room and function suite.
The centre will also use a combined heating and power system to recycle heat.
Bromley Council leader Councillor Stephen Carr said: “We are delivering on our commitment to build a better Bromley by investing £5.1m in this fantastic new centre, the first new public building in this part of the borough for many years.
“When opened later this spring it will provide a new focus of activities for local youngsters and a hub of community activity.”
