YOUNGSTERS welcomed the new spring season with a day of activities celebrating the humble daffodil.

St Paul’s Cray Primary School turned yellow for the day when teachers and pupils took part in a national Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraising effort.

The Mini Pots of Care funday helped children at the school in Buttermere Road, St Paul’s Cray, learn about science and nature whilst raising cash for the cancer charity.

Year 6 teacher Sue Hickman said: “In the Autumn term, pupils planted the donated bulbs and now the children have decorated sleeves for the plant pots.

“Other work included sketching, poetry writing and report writing about Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The school raised almost £400 after children were sponsored to wear yellow for the day.
