Shea Rider: interviewed June 2004

11:44am Tuesday 8th June 2004

Shea Rider and his band are real and raw but are they your cup of tea? Read on to find out ...

Q: Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Shea Rider and I'm from Swanley. I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist. I have been playing guitar since I was 11 but have only been writing my own music for the past five years.

Q: Who is in your band and how did it come together?

I have known Gary (bass) for years. We first met because of music and stayed in contact by turning up at each others gigs. I met Matt (drums) and Steve (keys) while working in a music shop where I used to write most of my songs. We all knew each others' potential was being stifled in the bands we were in. They liked my music, I liked their playing, and the band formed.

Q: Any forthcoming gigs?

We gig mostly in Kent and London. Our next one is on June 16 at The Basement in Pudding Lane, Maidstone.

Q: Any releases?

My latest CD contains just three of the many songs I have written. I have lots more material mainly based on real happenings in my life. My music is a unique fusion of styles in a pop/rock fashion. It is real and it is raw.

Q: What are your fans like?

They vary in ages. It started with friends then friends of friends and could be a legion soon. CD sales have expanded since the website was published as did the fan base.

Q: What plans do you have for the future?

To develop the business side of the band. We enjoy what we do but need some professional input to expand it even further.
