ELDERLY people can have their garden’s improved through a new volunteering project organised by a church.

Joy Lanksford, a member of the Downham Way Family Church, The Green, Bromley, set up the scheme.

The 46-year-old has helped improve Ken and Eileen Vaughn’s front garden in Keedonwood Road, Bromley.

The church’s pastor, Nigel Mumford, said: “I am delighted, thanks to some money we managed to obtain through the Downham local assembly, we’ve been able to get this gardening project off the ground.

“Older people here are going to benefit enormously and the general appearance of the neighbourhood will improve too.”

The gardening project was proposed through and supported by the Downham local assembly, which has agreed to fund £600 towards the project from the locality fund.
