A FORMER sales assistant will pirouette onto our screens at the weekend during a primetime TV dance show.

Charlie Bruce, of Wickham Road, Beckenham, is hoping to dance her way into the final of the BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance.

The first live show will take place on Saturday which will see seven guys and seven girls battling it out to stay in the show.

This Saturday one boy and one girl will be sent home by judges Nigel Lythgoe and Arlene Phillips.

The programme is presented by Cat Deeley and sees the judges critique finalists competing for the title of Britain's favourite dancer.

Miss Bruce specialises in ballet and jazz but will have her skills put to the test during the show having to perform a range of dancing styles on the show to secure victory.

The 19-year-old was selected as part of the top 14 from a national audition tour for a series of live Saturday night studio shows.

Her mum, Sally, said: “I am absolutely elated and I do feel she is very happy to be dancing with all of the other dancers who are all seasoned professionals.

“I hope she goes the whole way and I do think it is now Charlie’s turn.”

Miss Bruce has been dancing since the age of seven.
