A MOTHER whose son was killed in an off-road biking accident is calling on the community to help prevent more accidents.

Lisa Skone, 34, of Trebble Road, Swanscombe, has organised a 400-signature petition asking Dartford Council to set up a motorbike project or a supervised track in the area in place of a closure-threatened club.

And she is looking for professional bike riders willing to teach youths the basics of bike riding.

Earlier this month she organised a group of youths to visit the quarry site where her son Danny, 18, was killed in February.

Mrs Skone says she is currently supporting Joyce Green Motocross Club's application to move premises when its lease runs out in December.

But Dartford Council is refusing to allow the club, which has been established for more than 12 years, to be rebuilt 200m further into Dartford Marshes.

She said: "I'm very disappointed but it's typical. They don't seem to care what happens with the kids at all. It's very frustrating.

"They built a couple of football pitches but what about the kids who don't play football. A lot have bikes.

"We need a track to keep kids from illegal off-road biking and to give them somewhere safe to go where the biking can be supervised."

Now Mrs Skone wants to get a registered charity set up in memory of her son, called Danny Skone's Ride For Life.

For this she needs an annual fund income of £1,000 and fixed premises.

Mrs Skone is getting together with Swan Valley School to organise a fundraising event such as a school disco or sponsored walk.
