THE revised timetable on Southeastern trains will remain in place for another day, the company has confirmed.

A statement on the company's website reads: "Freezing temperatures, snow and ice have been forecast over the next few days.

"To ensure we’re able to run the best service possible in these weather conditions a revised metro and mainline timetable is currently in place.

"Please note this means a limited number of services will arrive in London before 9am.

"High Speed services are expected to run as per the normal timetable. All Southeastern ticket holders can use High Speed services at no extra cost and tickets will be accepted on London Underground on reasonable routes."

Meanwhile Kent police are warning motorists to drive only in emergencies during the current severe weather conditions.

The advice comes after reports snow could continue to fall in Kent this evening (Jan 6) with very heavy snow forecast to hit north Kent as early as 4pm.

Head of Kent police roads policing unit, Chief Inspector Andy Reeves, said: "Driving in snow and on icy roads is very difficult, even for experienced drivers.

"Tyres can lose traction when the road surface is wet or icy, which can result in skidding and a loss of control of the vehicle.

"Drivers need to ask themselves whether their journey is necessary if there is very heavy snowfall.

"If motorists do have to travel they should take a fully charged mobile phone, food, water and warm clothes with them in case they do get stranded, as quick recovery cannot be guaranteed in severe weather."

At the moment all the major routes are open.

In the wider area of the south-east heavy snowfall has once again caused disruption to traffic, schools and commuters.

Southern trains have also issued a weather warning and revised timetable.

The 6.22pm and 6.36pm Southern services from London Victoria to Brighton have been cancelled tonight (January 6).

The Highways Agency website is struggling to cope with demand this morning as drivers look for hold-ups on icy roads.

However, the government department has weather warnings in place for much of the M25 including the Orpington junction.

Victoria to Orpington

The first service from Victoria departs at 0640 calling at Brixton, Herne Hill, West Dulwich, Sydenham Hill, Penge East, Kent House, Beckenham Junction, Shortlands, Bromley South, Bickley, Petts Wood, arriving at Orpington at 0718. Services leave at 10 and 40 mins past the hour through the day. The last service from Victoria is 2255

Orpington to Victoria

The first service from Orpington leaves at 0455 ending at Herne Hill at 0523The first service from Orpington going through to Victoria is 0625 arriving Victoria at 0703. Services run through the day departing at 25 and 55 mins past the hour. The last service departs from Orpington at 2025.

London Charing Cross to Dartford via Bexleyheath

The first service departs London Charing Cross at 0702 calling at Waterloo East, London Bridge, Lewisham, Blackheath, Kidbrooke, Eltham, Falconwood, Welling, Bexleyheath, Barnehurst and arriving at Dartford at 0745. Services leave at 02 and 32 mins past the hour through the day. The last service departs at 2032.

Darftord to London Charing Cross via Bexleyheath

The first service departs Dartford at 0652. Services leave at 22 and 52 mins past each hour through the day. The last service will be 1922.

London Charing Cross to Gillingham via Sidcup

Dartford to London Cannon Street via Greenwich

The first service leaves at 0631 arriving at 0715 Services leave through the day at 01 and 31 mins pas the hour. The last service is at 2001.

Bromley Council

The local authority in Bromley is asking people to look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours during periods of severe weather.

A statement on the council's 'Keeping warm in winter' webpage reads: "There is a direct link between cold weather and the higher death rate, especially amongst older people and others in at-risk groups.

"Remember - winter needn't be dangerous if you take the right steps."

The council also has detailed maps showing where its gritters tackle snow and ice on its website.

Gravesham Council

Refuse and recycling collections may be disrupted across the borough, but first thing collections were being made as normal today.

Gravesham Council staff have been out gritting shop fronts, car parks and leisure centres, with special attention being paid to sheltered housing.

The Civic Centre in Wrotham Road is open but callers are warned to be patient as customer services phone lines are busy.

Meanwhile it is business as usual at Bluewater with roads in and around the shopping centre clear of snow.
