GRAVESHAM: Council staff praised for 'admirable' efforts during bad weather

GRAVESHAM Council staff have been praised by the council leader for their efforts during the bad weather.

Despite the poor conditions, the majority of recycling and refuse collections were made.

Councillor Mike Snelling said: “It was a daunting task keeping everything running as close to normal as feasible, especially last Friday, but the dedication of the council’s staff was admirable and deserves the gratitude of everyone.”

The council says any backlog will have been collected by Christmas.

Street cleaning teams were also out in full force gritting the town centre, car parks, cemeteries and sheltered housing units.

"GRAVESHAM: Council staff praised for doing their jobs"

Give me a break why on earth do we pay council tax, council tax that's increased over 100% for the last 10 years have we got a 100% increase in services? I don't think so.

The council were only doing what we are paying them for. Some of the roads were not gritted properly and resulted in very dangerous conditions for a few days.
