SYDENHAM: Man arrested on suspicion of dangerous dog offences

A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of dangerous dogs offences after police searched a flat in Sydenham.

Sydenham's safer neighbourhoods team found a male and female pit bull type dogs, as well as five puppies, and took them to a south London police kennel.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing, breeding and distributing prohibited dogs and breaching a disqualification he had been given banning him from keeping any animal in his home for five years.

He was taken to a south London police station and has been bailed to return at a later date.

Sergeant Jonathan Hill said: "This premises came to our attention initially after members of the community complained about dogs barking and raised concerns about dangerous dogs being held there.

“Any reports from the public about dogs suspected to be prohibited or those owning them are investigated seriously to prevent these animals causing people unnecessary injuries."
