THOUSANDS of shoppers have packed out Bluewater during the Christmas period, despite the extreme weather.
On the final weekend before Christmas Day, the shopping centre received around 250,000 visitors.
And this week almost half a million shoppers were expected.
The average Bluewater shopper spends £330 on Christmas presents with average shopping time up from two hours 10 minutes to three hours.
Jewellery and perfume were among the most popular purchases with a bottle of perfume or aftershave bought every four seconds.
An estimated 1,960,000m of wrapping paper are bought over the festive period, which would cover the distance from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats on the northern tip of Scotland.
General manager of Bluewater Andrew Parkinson said: “As anticipated, it has been very busy here at Bluewater with guests visiting to finish their Christmas shopping and to enjoy the Winter Wonderland with their families.”
