Assistant director for street services, Paul Symonds, said: “At the first sign of icy road conditions, our crews are out on the major routes across the borough to keep them as safe as possible.

“Our gritting crews are geared up throughout winter to operate round the clock and that’s precisely what we are doing at the moment.

With SouthEastern's new timetable or lack thereof; considering 2 nights in a row my train home has been delayed or cancelled It'll be nice for them to have a legitimate reason for disruption.

Sadly we will all still need to commute to/from work.

Anyways, moaning aside, wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

'oh my god oh my god' panicked the chief track snow cleaner as he realised that B&Q had not salt for sale.....a day after it snows.

Snow day here I come!! Lets face it, climate change is going to get us all (I am joking by the way)

Good for you Bexley, five mechanical gritters and none are out and about.
I've yet to see one this evening, and having thrice tried to navigate Hurst Road in the past 90 minutes, can confirm that zilch has gone down despite the rapidly deteriorating conditions!
Job well done...

And don't get me started on southeastern... "as with all timetables there has to be a compromise, the changes will not suit everybody" - i defy them to find a satisfied customer...

Arrived in work this morning without a problem - roads nicely cleared and gritted, easy journey, plenty of gritters out and about. Top marks to Bromley Council - now, if only they were running the whole country.........

From Bromley towards London the roads were fine but from Bromley towrds the South Coast the roads were a nightmare. I dont blame the local councils, they have done what they can, its just nature.

The 5.29 train this morning actually ran, albeit 5 minutes late (we can handle that). Nice clear roads around Elmstead this morning and got to work fine.

Things are definately looking up . . . . . apart from the being at work part but can't win them all i suppose.

I have to say, I was pleasently surprised this morning to find the train waiting on the platform (albeit the wrong one!), but the heaters were working and it left and arrived on time - credit where it's due, just a shame it can't happen more often.
