A BUSY main road in Bromley has reopened a week after a burst water main forced its closure.

The A21 Bromley Common was shut between Crown Lane Spur and Homesdale Road after a water main burst outside The Crown pub in the early hours of December 3.

Thames Water engineers managed to replace the pipe and restore water to affected postcodes – thought to include around 100 homes – later that day.

But it took a week to repair the road and it was reopened this morning (December 11).

The water company blamed the leak on a 100-year-old Victorian pipe being affected by the recent cold weather and heavy rainfall.
