GOLFERS have teed off to raise nearly £36,000 to buy minibuses for two special schools.
In the last year West Kent Golf Club, Milking Lane, Downe, has held a series of raffles, auctions and charity golf days to raise half the money needed to buy two minibuses.
The buses have been given to the Phoenix Pre-School Centre, Masons Hill, Bromley and the Riverside School, Main Road, Orpington, which both provide schooling for children with learning difficulties.
Children’s charity the Variety Club of Great Britain is providing the remainder of the cash, along with the two schools.
The golf club’s assistant secretary, Colleen Bond, said: “We have never raised this amount before so we’re more than pleased.
“We’re hoping to raise more for another bus.”
