LIBRARIES in the area are lending energy meters to residents free of charge.
The meters have a display which allows the user to monitor the electricity consumption by the second, minute, hour, day and week.
They are available to borrow using a library card from the libraries in Calderwood Street, Woolwich, and Old Dover Road, Blackheath.
The meters can also be connected directly to a PC which can then build graphs and charts and make comparisons over specific periods of time to help users set their own energy saving targets.
Greenwich council cabinet member for culture and Olympics Cllr John Fahy said: “This is a great initiative which enables people to quickly assess how much electricity they are using and subsequently plan ways to reduce both their bills and carbon footprint.”
