Having arrived at 8:45am and found NO parking spaces available whilst many had cars in covered with a thick layer of frost indicating they'd been there a hell of a time, I spent this morning waiting with Mrs Naq in the outpatients department of Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough.

They say that if you stand long enough in Trafalgar square then the whole world will pass you by.

Try this hospital waiting area and I'd say it happens within 30 minutes - like the league of nations it was.

However it always seems to be the white English families and their bling wearing kids who are the biggest and most annoying bunch when any group of people gather together. Hospital waiting areas are apparently no exception.

Today proved the point when a young couple and their two kids arrived and immediately allowed the older of the two (a boy) to go on the rampage; running around, screaming, shouting, pushing things about, climbing over chairs and hospital equipment.

The parents were apparently totally oblivious to the fact that 1) the kid was an annoying brat and 2) he was likely to injure himself. Especially as he kept clambering on a pair of free wheeled hospital document trolleys - while his father (or at least the adult male) stood by, hands in pockets and watched.

The mother ignored it completely other than a couple of half-hearted "Why are you being so naughty?" questions put to the boy, which were of course completely ignored but still didn't lead to any even minor castigation let alone an insistence for the child to sit down and shut up.

The child continued to run all round the place, up and down the corridors on their side of the hall and still nothing was done. Not even when he operated the emergency call button in an office he'd just wandered into.

As you'd expect, the medical staff responded, causing them to leave their designated tasks because Mr and Mrs Moron couldn't be a*sed to control their child.

Mother's response was "Why did you do that?"

Child's response was to grin as was also the response of the supposedly mature and adult male of the quartet.

What the hell is it with these people?

The adults obviously had no respect for the situation and the other people waiting to be seen so how on earth can they (or we for that matter) expect the upcoming generation of little bl**ders to ever be anything better than they are?

To whit - a downright ruddy nuisance.

I'm at Guy's hospital tomorrow and I suspect things won't be much better there in the main waiting areas although at least in my oncology clinic it's always quiet and restrained - cancer sort of does that to you!
