UNSUNG heroes had the red carpet rolled out for them at an awards ceremony honouring their role in the community.
Three hundred people came together at Citygate Church, Rectory Road, Beckenham, for the fourth annual Night of Honour.
Award categories included Beckenham’s best sports star, king or queen of customer care, child of the year and the lifetime achievement award.
They were presented by local dignitaries including Bromley mayor Councillor Douglas Auld and the borough commander Chief Superintendent Charles Griggs.
Citygate Church’s senior minister and the event’s director Julian Melfi said: “There are so many great things happening through so many individuals and organisations in our community which need to be honoured and we hold this event to say thank you to them.
“If we all do our part in encouraging and building each other up, together we can powerfully affect our generation for good and bring transformation in our community.”

Beckenham’s Best Carer – Steve Bannister Beckenham Beacon
Beckenham’s Child of the Year – Sophie Read
Beckenham’s Lifetime Achievement 2009 – Donald Wisbey
