MUAY Thai boxer Stephen Looker is just the latest champion in a long line to roll of the Alan Keddle's Gym production line.

The 13-year-old, who attends Coopers' School in Chistlehurst, beat Bournemouth's Ryan Cole, earlier this month to claim the Muay Thai British Junior Title in the under-50 kilo category, in front of 600 spectators in Torquay's Conference Centre.

The teenager follows in the footsteps of recent Keddles' successes, 16-year-old Bernice Alldis, who claimed the WPKL English Featherweight title last month and Bert Truby, aged 12, who was crowned IMKO British Junior champion before Christmas.

The youngster's father, also called Stephen, says it was his son's toughest challenge so far in his short five-fight career, but claimed he still had enough over five two-minute rounds to claim a unanimous victory.

Stephen senior said: "He's on cloud nine after the win and I'm over the moon with the way things went.

"He had won his previous four bouts comprehensively but this was by far the hardest fight he has had yet.

"Stephen used to go boxing but changed to kick-boxing after we went to a show three years ago and he decided to give it a go.

"He now trains three times a week at Keddle's, which is probably the best Muay Thai boxing gym in the country."

He added: "Stephen will be defending his title in October in Croydon but hopes to have another fight lined up before that, in May."

Meanwhile, Petts Wood-based fighter Bert Truby landed his third British title in four months against Torquay's Kyle Littlejohn.

The 12-year-old star dominated the fight from the start and forced his opponent to retire at the beginning of round four.

Nicky Carter, aged 21, was next up from the Keddles' camp and smashed her way to victory when adding the English Ladies Light-welterweight title to the Southern Area title she won in August last year.

Carter totally dominated her opponent, Emma Bowers, and now has her sights set on winning the British title.

Mottingham's triple British champion Robert Keddle' Storey, faced current Irish champion Mike Powaski when fighting full Thai rules.

After a hard fought contest for the Anglo-Irish title at Light-welterweight, 30-year-old Storey produced the better work to earn a majority decision.

Unfortunately, Keddles' Gym did not have it all their own way and Crayford's Danny Harris lost on a controversial points decision when fighting the experienced Carl Drake.

The 20-year-old faced an opponent with more than 50 fights under his belt in boxing and kick-boxing. Harris equitted himself well despite a three-year lay-off and head instructor Alan Keddle believed he should have won the fight.

Lucy Hunking, aged 21, was another Keddles' fighter who had a losing evening, despite producing the best performance of her career against Paignton's Michelle Cayless. Lucy lost a very close points decision in a fight everyone at the ringside thought she had won.

Keddle's gym is believed to be the biggest member gym in the country, with 800 members and 54 title belts within the gym. The gym has five full-time instructors teaching seven days a week.
