YOUNGSTERS from a Bexley primary school got the VIP treatment when they were asked to open a new local store.
The children, from Northumberland Heath Primary School were invited by the nearby new Co-operative store in Bexley Road, Northumberland Heath, to do the honours and cut the opening ribbon.
The children were welcomed by store manager Manny Tagoe who said: “The Co-operative is very much a community retailer so it is appropriate our local school is involved in our special event.”
He also presented the children with £200 for the school’s funds.
The store has been converted from a former Somerfield supermarket as part of a nationwide by-out by the Co-operative Group.
