A NEW state-of-the-aert CCTV camera has been installed in one of Bexley’s shopping centres.
The camera, which cost more than £10,000 has been installed in Bexley Road, Northumberland Heath.
It is currently the only camera of its kind in the borough and is capable of identifying people up to half-a-mile away.
Councillor Katie Perrior, cabinet member for community affairs, said: “The record investment we have undertaken in this camera should leave local people in no doubt we are committed to ensuring the safety of our streets and we are on the side of the victim and not the criminal.”
Nigel Cross, chairman of the Northumberland Heath Village Traders added: “We are over the moon with the CCTV camera.”
