A TABLE magician was one of the highlights of this year’s awards for Bexley’s looked-after children.

The children and young people always have a large input into the event, held at the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath Broadway and this year they wanted a magician to go from table to table performing magic tricks.

More than 40 children and young people were at the event after being nominated for awards by their schools, social workers or foster carers.

Bexley mayor, Councillor Bernard Clewes presented trophies to the winners for a variety of achievements, while cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor June Slaughter, presented each of them with a scroll.

She said: “It is a chance to celebrate their hard work and determination in gaining great results, sometimes against incredible odds.

“I congratulate them all.”

After the awards there was a chance to relax with a disco.
