THE owner of a Bexley restaurant is offering a free meal to serving members of the armed forces and service veterans, to mark Remembrance Day.
Irshad Ali, who owns the Jhorna Tandoori Restaurant in Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath, is offering a free set meal, worth £10, tonight, tomorrow and November 11, between 7.30pm and midnight to anyone who can produce a Veteran’s Badge, service papers or any proof they have served or are serving in the forces.
The offer does not include drinks or guests and the tables should be pre-booked on 020 8304 9936.
Mr Ali said he he wanted to show his appreciation of what service personnel do.
He said: “Remembrance Day is the one time in a year when we remember all the men and women who risked their lives in service of their country.”
He added: “If it wasn’t for the people from all over Bexley, the UK and the Commonwealth as well, then we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today, either in Britain or in places like India and Bangladesh.”
