YOUNG GIRLS have been encouraged to play cricket by a member of England’s female cricket team.
The youngsters at Hayes Primary School in George Lane, Bromley, received a visit from Lydia Greenway, who is a member of England’s women's cricket team, which won the Women’s World Cup earlier this year.
Miss Greenway, who grew up in Hayes, visited the girls who are members of the school’s girls cricket team to talk and encourage them to continue to play the sport.
The school was visited as part of a national campaign, called Chance to Shine, which is aiming to encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
Member of the school’s governing body, Alison Naish, said: “We are very keen to encourage young people to enjoy sport at any level.
“It was magnificent that someone like Lydia could spend her time to come and see the girls to encourage them.”
