LEE: Jimmy Mizen's killer 'stabbed in prison with pair of tweezers'

JIMMY Mizen's killer has been stabbed in jail, according to reports.

Jake Fahri, aged 19, was apparently stabbed with a sharpened pair of tweezers in the exercise yard of Moorland Young Offenders Institute in Doncaster where he is serving a life sentence.

A spokesman for the Prison Service said: "On Monday a fight broke out between three prisoners. Staff acted quickly to control the situation.

"One prisoner was taken to hospital for treatment and has now been returned to the prison."

Meanwhile a spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "We were called to Moorland prison shortly before 8.40am on Monday following a report of a fracas involving a number of inmates.

"One prisoner sustained minor injuries that required treatment at hospital.

"Enquiries into the incident are continuing and no one has been arrested."

Jimmy Mizen, aged 16, of Dallinger Road, Lee, was murdered in a bakery near his home in May last year.

His father Barry Mizen spoke to News Shopper this afternoon about the jail incident.

He said: "A lot of people will no doubt be saying derogatory things about Jake Fahri after this - but you won't get that from me.

"It all sounds very strange and it goes to show that there is just so much anger and aggression in the world. This time he is the victim rather than the perpetrator.

"As far as I am concerned he went to court, he got convicted and he has been punished and that's the end of it."

He added: "Sometimes it easy to get too focussed on knife crime. If we all concentrate on knives then the figures go down and people get complacent.

"Jimmy was not killed by a knife and neither have many other victims. It's the aggression which needs to be tackled."

Fahri, of Milborough Crescent, Lee, threw a glass dish at Jimmy which cut his throat. He was convicted of murder and sentenced at the Old Bailey in March.
