GRAVESEND: Asian women celebrate festival of light

A GROUP of elderly Asian women celebrated a cultural festival in style with a party at a restaurant.

Gravesend Asian Women’s Group held the event at Bassant Resturant in Milton Road, Gravesend, on Monday to mark Diwali, an Indian celebration known as the Festival of Light.

The group has been running for eight years and has around 50 members, all aged over 60, and meets every month at St Mark’s Church in London Road, Northfleet.

Chairwoman Sudershan Sehgal, 72, said: “We do yoga, exercise, we give tips for a healthy lifestyle. We invite other Asian women to join us.”
