A FREE insulation scheme for homes in the area has been suggested by a council committee striving to cut carbon emissions.
Lewisham Council's sustainable development select committee has suggested a three-year programme which would insulate around 25,000 homes.
It calls on the Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock to set a target date by which every household, private or council-owned, is offered free cavity wall insulation.
Chair of the committee Councillor Sue Luxton said: "We would like to see a free insulation scheme for all housing in the borough, which could run in partnership with an energy supplier.
"This would offer free cavity-wall insulation and internal-wall insulation for those properties with solid walls.”
