On Sunday 29 November Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice in conjunction with the Mall Bexleyheath will host a Christmas Spectacular to raise funds for Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice at an all day event featuring live bands, entertainment and a huge Christmas Market. The event highlight will be a sensational Santa Parade at 4pm and the switching on of Bexleyheath Town Centre’s Christmas lights at 5pm.

The Hospice, based in Abbey Wood, is calling on local people to sign up to join the Santa Parade and raise money for a great cause. Although unsuccessful in its Guinness World Record attempt last year, the event did attract an impressive 1,019 Santas to join the parade and is hoping to double that figure for this year’s event.

Community Fundraiser, Susan Adams, said: We want to see 2,000 Santas parading along the Broadway this year – double the Santas, double the fun and double the funds!”

The Santa Parade will commence at 4pm at a leisurely pace from Bexleyheath Town Park, alongside Christ Church and left onto Broadway towards the Clock Tower. Santa Parade entry forms and Santa packs are available for download from the website www.cottagehospice.org.uk, Hospice reception, fundraising office, Hospice charity shops and at the Mall’s Ask Me Point.

Registration costs £10 for 16 and over and £5 for children aged 5-15. The registration fee includes a free Santa suit. The Santa suit packs will be ready for collection from the Mall, Bexleyheath Ask Me Point, which can be found at Central Square near Barretts and Costa Coffee.

Readers call 020 8319 9230 for more information, or email info@gbch.org.uk .

The Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Bernard Clewes MBE.

Santas on Broadway is supported by the London Borough of Bexley, The Mall Bexleyheath, Marriott Bexleyheath, ASDA, The Scout Association and Nigel Barrett Photography.
