POLICE are to carry out an operation to swoop on the area’s business community.
But if you think a crime wave is hitting your area, do not worry as it is all in aid of charity.
The ‘operation’ will take place to raise cash for the charity Harris HospisCare with St Christopher's, which looks after terminally ill people.
Jail n Bail will take place on December 10 and anyone who agrees to be a ‘felon’ will be arrested, charged and hand-cuffed.
They will then be taken to a police station in a police van, but when they get there they will be treated to a champagne reception.
Bail is being set at £500 and should be handed in on the day.
Nicky White, community fundraiser of the hospice said: “We’re looking for more local business people to take part. It’s such fun, the police are great and the people looking on think it is for real at first.”
