A COLLEGE has unveiled a new piece of recycling equipment for the construction department.

The Deptford campus, Deptford Church Street, received the Envirowash system from Axis Europe, which specialises in improving and maintaining properties.

It will enable the College to separate water based paints into the component materials, water and paint, before disposing of them safely.

Lewisham College and Axis Europe have been working closely together in the training and development of six painting and decorating and plumbing apprentices.

Head of the College’s construction and technical services department Brian Crone said: “We’re delighted to receive this important piece of recycling equipment from Axis Europe.

"This further cements the College’s reputation for championing quality and sustainable craftsmanship.”

Every year an estimated 56m litres of paint is thrown into landfill or poured into waterways in the UK.
