SCIENCE students thought they were in an episode of CSI when they got the chance to use genetic equipment to study DNA samples.
This was part a fundraising event held by Dartford Grammar School in West Hill, where they raised more than £2,000 for Jeans for Genes.
The charity raises money for the research and care of children with genetic disorders.
All of the school’s 1,300 students and 100 staff each paid £2 to wear jeans for the day.
A film crew also came along to film 32 sixth-formers perform genetic finger printing and use a PCR machine, which amplifies segments of DNA.
Science teacher Felicity Mayrs said: “The students got to use a lot of equipment they don’t normally get to use in school, such as genetic equipment supplied from universities.”
