SHOPPERS are being warned to stay vigilant for counterfeit items after faulty goods were seized at a car boot sale near Swanley.

Kent Trading Standards recently seized a hairdryer and straightener set from a stall at the Pedham Boot Fair and found it to be unsafe.

The £20 set had inadequate electric shock protection, counterfeit parts and illegal plugs.

Consumers are urged not to buy anything that they think could be counterfeit and to report any concerns to consumer direct on 0845 404 0506.

I have bee to the mentioned boot fair, and seen many counterfeit straighteners and hair dryers being sold, and often for more than £20!! It is tempting to buy the fake goods but they never last, you really do get what you pay for....
