WALKERS have taken a trip around a river to see how it has improved over the years.
Around 20 people from Lewisham and Greenwich joined the Quaggy Waterways Action Group, a charity, for its annual walk this year.
The river, which flows through the two boroughs, was revived in Eltham’s Sutcliffe Park five years ago and walkers had the chance to see the difference that has been made.
During the reonvation, the previously hidden river was brought back to the surface along with a new lake, wetlands, walkways and bridges.
Previous walks have included trips to Chinbrook Meadows in Grove Park and Lee Green’s Manor Park.
Group secretary Dave Larkin said:”Our regular river walks are an enjoyable way of seeing how south London’s many rivers can improve the area if they are properly looked after.”
