A WIDOW died after a fall at her home one month before her 100th birthday, an inquest heard.
Dartford Coroner’s Court was told 99-year-old Ellen Corris, who lived alone in Arnold Road, Gravesend, died on June 6 after being found lying semi-conscious at the bottom of her stairs by her daughter.
She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital where she later died.
The inquest heard that Mrs Corris had broken her ribs two days before her death following another fall.
On recording a death by natural causes, coroner Roger Hatch said: “Ellen Corris had a number of medical problems, she was partially sighted and had a history of falling.
“Her death was due to natural causes given her history of previous falls and the medical difficulties she was suffering from at the time of her death.”
A post-mortem examination found her death was caused by having broken ribs and coronary artery disease.
