THE wait is over for nervous school-leavers after hundreds of teenagers picked up their GCSE results today (August 27).

Langley Park School for Girls in Beckenham saw its 238 GCSE students achieve a 99.8 per cent pass rate, with 31.4 per cent of exams marked as an A or A* grade.

Speaking after the results were released this morning, headteacher Jan Sage said: “Once again, excellent results at every level of capability. All 238 pupils gained at least six GCSE passes.”

The neighbouring Langley Park School for Boys achieved a 99.5 per cent pass rate, with 73.9 per cent of its pupils gaining five or more A* to Cs, including Maths and English - the Government’s preferred measure of a school’s success.

Teachers at the Priory School in Orpington celebrated as 99 per cent of their students achieved at least one A* to G grade GCSE.

Headteacher Nick Ware said: “I am pleased for the staff, students, parents and governors who have worked so hard to achieve this level of success."

Bromley High School for Girls managed a 100 per cent pass rate at A* to E, with an A* to C pass rate of 98.5 per cent.

The school’s pupils Maria Armitage, Aria Oram and Samantha Lai all achieved 10 A* grades each.

Hayes School is celebrating its best GCSE haul ever as 69.3 per cent of its pupils managed at least five A* to C grades.

Headteacher Kieran Osborne said: “We are determined that we will continue to set and achieve the highest standards for our students because we have belief in their ability and commitment.”

Bullers Wood School in Chislehurst also achieved its best ever GCSE results with a 99.1 per cent pass rate, and Darrick Wood School in Orpington saw 93 per cent of its 16-year-olds pick up at least five A* to C grades.

Meanwhile, Babington House School gained a 100 per cent pass rate, with all of its pupils picking up at least five A* to C grades.

Kemnal Technology College in Sidcup recorded its best ever results with 72 per cent of Year 11 students achieving at least five A* to C grades.

And Mottingham’s Eltham College managed a 100 per cent pass rate, with a 98.2 per cent of exams graded A* to C.

College pupils William Goddard, Jacob Laing, Edward Bunker managed to score an A* in all their exams.

Headteacher Paul Henderson said: “At GCSE we lay good foundations for all our pupils to go on to achieve outstanding results at A level, which can secure places at top class universities.”

The 135 pupils at Newstead Wood School for Girls in Orpington sat 1522 exams and managed to secure an A* to C pass rate of 99.2 per cent.

Bishop Justus School in Bromley Common saw 65 per cent of its pupils gain at least five A* to C grades, including maths and english.
