TEENAGERS across north Kent are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results.

Cobham Hall School in Cobham saw their best ever results, with 97 per cent of students achieve five or more A* to C passes.

Headmaster, Paul Mitchell, said: ‘I am very pleased with this record breaking year which is due to the hard work of the girls and the dedication of the staff.

One student, Sophia Edwards from Sole Street, Cobham, gained A* in nine GCSEs.

Miss Edwards said: “I am glad it is over, it is a big weight off my shoulders and I am really pleased with my results.”

The 16-year-old has been awarded a sixth form scholarship and will be joining Cobham Hall’s sixth form in September to study for her International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Swanley Technology College in St Mary’s Road, Swanley, saw 44 per cent of its students achieving five or more A* to C passes.

Headteacher of the school, Julie Bramley, said: “We are extremely delighted with the success of our students this year. These are record breaking results for the school.”

The overall pass rate saw 90 per cent of the students gaining A* to G grades.

Student, Rebecca Barnes of Springfield Avenue, Swanley, gained five A grades, three B grades and one C.

Miss Barnes said: “I am really proud of myself.”

Students at the Leigh Technology Academy in Green Street Green Road, Dartford, saw 98 per cent of students gaining five or more A* to G grades, with 97 per cent gaining five or more A* to C.

Gravesend Grammar School in Church Walk, Gravesend, saw 98.7 per cent gaining five or more A* to C passes.

Nationally, 67.1 per cent of students gained five or more A* to C grades, an increase of 1.4 per cent from last year, with 98.6 per cent gaining A* to G passes, up from 98.4 per cent last year.
