A MAN who died after falling from a bridge near Belvedere railway station last week has been named.
He was Hardeep Manak, aged 29, of Belvedere.
British Transport Police were called Belvedere at 10.14am on August 19 after reports of a man lying injured on the railway line near the station.
They found the man lying on the tracks beneath with bridge, and say his injuries were consistent with falling from a height.
Despite a train passing over him as he lay on the track, he did not receive any further injuries.
Power was swtiched off and train services halted while paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where he later died.
A spokesman for the transport police said there were not treating the incident as suspicious.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned at Croydon Coroner’s Court, pending further investigation.
