A TOWN centre pub has launched its community fundraising efforts with a family fun day.
The Portrait pub in Main Road, Sidcup, offered face painting, goodie bags, balloons, competitions and a raffle at its first event.
Manager Mark Chalkley said the aim was to raise cash for two local good causes.
They are St Lawrence’s Catholic Church, which is opposite the pub and which his wife Angela attends and the local multiple sclerosis society, which meets in the pub every Friday morning.
The fun day raised more than £100 and Mr Chalkley said more events were being planned, with all the money raised being divided equally between the two causes.
Mr Chalkley, who has two children of his own, said: “Now we have our children’s licence, we are trying to turn The Portrait into much more of a family pub.”
