RESIDENTS can buy environmentally friendly local produce at a new country market.

The St Mary Cray Country Market will open on September 2 in Vernon Hall, St Mary Cray High Street.

It will be the only open country market in the borough and will include produce such as fresh seasonal fruit and veg, eggs, meat, cakes, pies and preserves.

There will also be crafts, artwork and plants available to buy.

Market manager Jim Cook, has been involved in St. Mary Cray community projects for years.

Mr Cook said: “The country market will offer people the opportunity to buy good quality local produce and meet neighbours and friends over a cup of tea or coffee.

“Come along and join us for what is going to be an exciting new venture for the area.”

The market will run every Wednesday between 9.30am and 11am.
