STARTING secondary school can sometimes be a daunting prospect but a series of summer activities for youngsters have helped to soften the blow.
Bromley Council’s Moving On to Secondary School scheme saw 350 children visit The Priory School in Orpington, Bishop Justus School in Bromley Common, Charles Darwin School in Biggin Hill and Kelsey Park Sports College in Bromley, during the summer break.
Now in its sixth year, the project introduced youngsters to subjects including street dance, science, cooking, art, animation and geography.
Coordinator Sharon Bingham said: “We help children and young people to learn valuable new skills, work together and develop the confidence to tackle issues of real concern.
“All of which help to ensure they are more likely to succeed at secondary school and beyond.”
