A NEW £60,000 playground for youngsters has been built using Government funding.

Gravesham Council leader Councillor Mike Snelling officially opened the new facilities in Judson’s Field, off Wrotham Road, Meopham.

He was accompanied by representatives from Kent County Council, which organised the construction of the playground, and Meopham Parish Council.

The playground was built using a £50,000 grant from the Government’s Play Builder scheme, which gives local authorities money to provide play facilities for children, and £10,000 from the parish council.

Gravesham Council applied for the Government grant, and Cllr Snelling said: “This represents our efforts to provide more active things for young people to do.

“This playground will be extremely well used for many years to come.”
