A VICTIM support programme trialled in Lewisham is to be rolled out nationwide.
Justice Minister and Lewisham East MP Bridget Prentice made the announcement during a meeting at Lewisham police station on August 24.
The Lewisham programme, which started last December, gives young victims of crime the chance to voice their worries through drop-in sessions, workshops, and one-to-ones.
Voluntary groups, Lewisham Council, police and schools work together to provide the programme.
Ms Prentice said: "Lewisham is a model example of how we can help keep our young people safe, help those who have been a victim of crime rebuild their lives and support them so they don't turn to crime in response to being a victim.”
Around £500,000 will be used to fund similar programmes across the country.
