A NEW golf course in Orpington has a name, thanks to a News Shopper competition.

We ran a contest asking for suggestions for what the nine-hole course being opened at Chelsfield Lakes golf centre should be called.

More than 50 ideas were sent in and these were passed on to the golf club for a winner to be a chosen.

The judging panel really liked the suggestion of Lake View, submitted by Sarah Van Cuylenburg.

This inspired the panel to think about the wonderful views from the course, one of the highest points in Kent.

It was eventually decided the course would be called The Vista for marketing purposes, but for putting forward the idea which inspired the choice Sarah was declared winner of the competition.

She wins a year’s membership at Chelsfield Lakes golf centre, a lesson with PGA club pro Nigel Lee and a £100 voucher to spend in the club’s shop.

Everyone else who entered the competition will get a free round of golf on the new course.
