WINNERS have been announced in a borough’s gardening competition and one couple is celebrating their second victory in a row.
The Greenwich in Bloom competition featured four categories including front gardens with colourful summer plants, front gardens with best landscape design and window boxes or hanging baskets.
Phyllis Duignan, 68, and her husband Tony, 73, won the best back garden award for their home in Gourock Road, Eltham.
The couple, who have two grandchildren, also won the award last year for their garden which features dahlias, lilies, marigolds and roses.
Mrs Duignan said: “I’m pleased we were persuaded to go in again to defend our title.”
Initial judging took place on June 23, with a second and final round held on July 7.
