A GARDENER has thanked the British weather for her batch of monster marrows.
Jenny Wan, 60, used to work in the rice fields of Hong Kong when she was growing up but has never seen vegetables the size of the ones in her Lee Green garden.
The former restaurant manager and mother-of-two, from Addison Drive, has managed to grow marrows up to 48in long.
She said: “We initially expected the marrows to be 20in long but they exceeded the size we were expecting.
“I believe the great British weather, good seeds, and gardening attention contributed to the growth of these mega marrows.”
Mrs Wan plans to use the enormous vegetables, which have grown so long they reach the floor from their wooden frame, to make soup and other dishes for her family.
