TRANSPORT for London (TfL) has started moving into new green offices which will save it £100m over the next 10 years.

The first of 1,800 staff from TfL moved into their state-of-the-art and energy efficient office block in Greenwich Peninsula last week.

The six-storey building features a green 'living roof' which was installed to help boost ecology in the area and improve insulation.

Meanwhile nearly all the interior is made from recycled materials including all of the kitchen work surfaces which are made from recycled glass.

Charles Stafford, TfL director of group property and facilities, said: “This move is a key part of our property strategy to improve the overall quality and productivity of the workspace we provide for our staff, yet also achieve significant efficiencies.

"In this case we have obtained top quality office accommodation at an excellent location, giving us true value for money."
